Marriage License Information

Last minute weddings are always welcome, just call for an appointment before coming in!

The Wedding Chapel is a legal registered facility for performing wedding ceremonies in the State of Pennsylvania. Before a couple can legally marry at The Wedding Chapel in the Pennsylvania area, the couple must obtain a state issused marriage license from one of the courts listed below.

If the marriage is being performed in another state you must obtain the marriage license in state the ceremony is going to be performed in. The requirements are different from state to state, check your state and call the local court office with any additional questions . Rules and prices may also vary slightly by county and are subject to change. Special rules apply if either party is under 18 years old.

Pennsylvania

• Both parties must apply for their license in person. They can apply in any county courthouse and get married in any county.
• The couple must wait three days before they can marry.
• The license remains valid for 60 days.
• Both parties must present their Social Security card along with proof of age, which can be met with documents such as a driver's license, birth certificate or passport.
• If either party has been divorced or widowed, some counties require that the party present a certified copy of the divorce decree or the death certificate.

• Both parties, along with a witness, must appear in person at the bride's local township building to apply for their marriage license.
• The couple must wait 72 hours before they marry.
• The license remains valid for 30 days.
• Both parties must provide proof of age, residence and divorce (if applicable).

Delaware

• Delaware residents can get married 24 hours after they apply while out-of-state residents must wait 96 hours.
• The license is valid for 30 days.
• Proper ID and proof of divorce (if applicable) are required.
